Their retail presence throughout the Rocky Mountains in the US is hard to beat. They have cornered the market on a high volume of used skis and snowboards, having built crucial relationships with resorts and other retailers for decades.

Not only do they have a great retail presence in Idaho – they fuel a lot of their ‘competitors’ on a wholesale basis, selling and shipping truck loads of equipment and product to them all over the Rockies and beyond.

The Challenge​

Barrie’s has a strong physical retail presence and powerful long-running vendor relationships.

One of their challenges was that they haven’t scaled or focused on their online sales channel for their used and new winter sports products.

The Barrie’s team saw a taste of success with the little that they did - and that was with a retail marketing crew who knew how to market and make sales in person but they needed implementation professionals who knew exactly how to build a successful ecommerce website, run email marketing campaigns, run ads, and more.

It’s a little nerve-wracking to invest in a new-ish sales channel and go all in on it - especially when you’re so familiar with a tried and true physical presence retail model. But Barrie’s smart leadership and management team knew that going online was the right investment to make, even if the projected re-launch happened mid-season.

For the first time ever,  Specialist PH put together a managed services plan for Barrie’s.

Under Specialist PH’s managed services program, Barrie’s received a temporary Specialist project manager plus 4 full-time Specialist PH staff members to focus on launching and optimizing their store.

The part-time Specialist project manager reports to and works closely with their in-house marketing management to ensure the strategy that Barrie’s would like to use is producing the results that they expected.

Barrie’s Ski & Sports in-house marketing manager chose to add a Specialist PH pay per click advertising pro, a Specialist PH Shopify administrator, and a Specialist PH graphic artist to their team first…

Then he switched out the Shopify store manager (after their store was live and running well) for an email marketer to set up Klaviyo, and finally he added a Specialist PH influencer marketing pro to their team to build out and manage their influencer outreach program.
